Data Scientist

Our client is adding a Data Scientist to their Health, Safety & Quality team.  Located in Calgary, the Data Scientist, HS and Quality will deliver data quality management solutions to enable excellence in safety and quality data analytics, including proactive predictive analytics to enable data driven risk management decisions.
Responsibilities of the Data Scientist, Health, Safety and Quality:
  • Implement data analytics reporting for safety and quality to identify trends, patterns, anomalies and provide recommendations to improve quality levels.
  • Deliver accurate, consistent, timely and high-quality data analytics to business leaders to inform strategic risk mitigation.
  • Implement and deliver regular business intelligence reporting for Board quarterly meetings, monthly reporting, and weekly communications etc.
  • Foster data capture quality through the implementation of systems that enable accurate and efficient capture and workflows for critical data points to enable high-quality data analytics.
  • Analyze lagging and predictive data trends to proactively raise opportunities for proactive risk mitigation.
  • Partner closely with operational teams, process safety, quality and HS programs and systems to deliver data to support strategic businesses cases
Qualifications of the Data Scientist, Health, Safety and Quality:
  • 10+ years in the data management and data analytics field, with 5+ years directly supporting operational teams within the energy sector.
  • Experience implementing (not just supporting) data analytics related to personal safety, process safety and quality management performance indicators. (Client will consider candidates who have experience in other subject matter areas)
  •  5+ years’ experience developing systems and process to enable quality data capture and meaningful predictive analytics for medium to large sized energy producer.
  • Master's or Bachelor’s degree related to business management, data management, analytics, engineering and or the sciences.
  • Proven experience in the field of data management, lagging analytics and predictive analytics.
  • Experience related to integrated management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing data analytics to inform data-driven controls, initiatives, and recommendations for system improvements.
  • Highly collaborative team player with a passion for data quality and analytics.
  • High performer, initiator, builder, improvement focused.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Highly proficient verbal and written communication skill set.
