Senior System Administrator - Edmonton

Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Our client is seeking a Senior System Administrator for their onsite location near Fort Saskatchewan.  The Senior System Administrator will provide technical support to the physical servers, virtual infrastructure, remote access infrastructure, storage, backups and datacenter. They will be accountable for ensuring the regular maintenance, patch updates, redundancy tests and monitoring processes are performed in a timely and professional manner.
They will also participate in IS projects and will ensure a smooth transition of project deliverables from the project to IS operations and Service Desk for ongoing sustainment.
 
 
Responsibilities of the Senior System Administrator include:
 
  • Provide technical support for all server infrastructure components (hardware, software, OS, firmware, network).
  • Proactively monitor, address and track to resolution any incidents logged or escalated to the IS operation.
  • Perform incidents root cause analysis and identify work around or fix.
  • Follow ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Request and Change management).
  • Recommend solutions that will enhance Information Systems or business processes as part of the continuous improvement strategy.
  • Perform infrastructure capacity planning by reviewing the network and system utilization, performance trends and overall system capacity to maintain performance levels that meet the business requirements.
  • Installation of servers and related application server software, upgrades, security or functional patches as well as moves and configuration changes.
  • Provide timely escalation of incident to 3rd party vendor support organizations where applicable.
  • Maintain and update physical and virtual server’s asset inventory.
  • Create and maintain IS Operation Run Books (technical documentation/instructions for any new application installation process, start-up and shut down procedures, etc.).
 
 
Requirements:
 
  • Must have minimum 5+ years’ experience working as a server system administrator with the following technology
  • Windows Server 2003 – 2016 (Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter)
  • Physical Servers including Cisco UCS, IBM, Dell, HP
  • Storage IBM V7000, Lenovo V3700, Dell MD3220
  • Cisco MDS and Brocade Fiber build for storage network with HA, Zoning
  • Networking support with Cisco ISE and 802.1x
  • Netscaler deployment, advanced configuration, upgrade
  • VMware 6.x Setup, configure, maintain, recover, upgrade
  • Basic switch and network configuration (VMware) Vlans route etc
  • Active Directory multiple domains with trust relationships
  • LDAP, NTP, DHCP HA Policies, DNS, Group Policy management, Licensing, Certificate Authority
  • Print servers including http print services
  • File Share Clusters, datacenter replication
  • Citrix XenApp Infrastructure support
  • Exchange 2013, Mailbox Database, Archive, and Compliance
  • Cisco Email Protection Appliance
  • Microsoft SQL 2012 Backup, Mirroring, Restore, AG, Instance, Clustering
  • Lync 2010 / Skype 2015
  • SCCM Management for OS, Application, and Update deployments, WSUS
  • Service-Now SAAS including MID Server integration with SCCM Database
  • Infrastructure monitoring using SCOM, Solarwinds, PRTG
  • Commvault deployment, upgrade, Media agent rebuild, Dedup database recovery, systems backups including VMware, SQL, File shares, Archiving and compliance.
  • Anti-Virus Trend Micro, Symantec, policy management and deployment
  • GoAnywhere FTP Services, Gateway
  • Dynamics AX, Atlas (JDE, AccPac)
  • SharePoint, Integrations
  • Maximo, WebSphere
  • Content Server and integrations with other Applications
  • Site Security Applications Lenel, MSA, SMI, CCTV
  • Automation systems BPM, EHT, PMS
  • Engineering Intergraph Applications support
  • Cisco Wireless for device support
  • Skype Mediation Server
  • Cisco CUCM
  • Digium Switchvox phone server
  • Digium PRI to SIP Gateway, Dial plans
  • Experience in PowerShell scripting
  • Experience with Console and command line support of infrastructure systems.
  • ITIL Change Advisory Board, Maintain CMDB
  • Must have a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licenseor equivalent
  • Must enjoy working with a team as well as having the ability to work as an individual contributor
  • Must have very good verbal and written skills.
  • Certifications in ITIL, Citrix and Microsoft and VMware will be an asset
  • ITIL 2011 foundation  training will be an asset
  • Experience with the “Service Now” IT service management tool will be an asset
  • Project execution experience will be an asset
  • Execute instructions in a timely and professional manner
  • Experience with Oil and Gas Capital projects desirable
 
Technical Application Support
  • Provide technical trouble shooting for applications (network, server, desktop)
  • Installation of software in server environments
  • Refresh of environments
  • OS patching
  • Coordination with software vendors for the patching of applications
