Internal Audit Manager

Location: Calgary, Alberta
We are currently working with a downtown client seeking a Manager Internal Audit.  This is an opportunity for a senior level Internal Audit Leader to join a vibrant, growing company.  

Ideally we are looking for a highly respected professional, who is comfortable working with individuals at all levels of the organization.  As a Manager you have experience leading and mentoring an internal audit team.  This position will have a high level of visibility within the organization and the Internal Audit Manager will have influence in the evolution of policies and procedures as the organization continues to move forward.

The internal audit team will be responsible for overseeing controls relating to financial reporting, fraud risk management, Joint Venture, IT audits etc. with the intent of improving efficiencies and further developing and promoting best practices for the organization.  As the manager of this team you will provide direction and guidance to a group of 4 auditors.  The Manager of Internal Audit will also work closely with other leaders in the organization in providing information and assisting with process alignment as required by regulatory changes.

Education and experience required for success in this role include:
  • A professional accounting designation, CPA, is required.  Experience working in a public practice accounting firm would be considered a strong asset.  
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience which includes team leadership during that time.
  • High level of expertise in research, process and control development relating to changes in regulations in North America.   
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. A leader who is able to assess technical information and requirements and present same in a clear and concise manner to the appropriate stakeholders. 
  • This position is based in Calgary but there will be some travel in North America (approximately 30-40%).
  • A highly collaborative, team-oriented individual, who would work well in a quickly evolving organization would thrive in this environment.
